Full Day Tour in Ancient Olympia
Our meeting place will be the first exit from the Katakolon Port. Upon arrival at the port can pick you up with our vehicle and provide you with a tour which will last 5-7 hours max.
I will always be there on time, waiting for you. Since it’s always busy at the port due to the arrival of the cruise ships, I will be holding a board with your name written on it, so you will easily recognize me.
The distance from Katakolon port to Ancient Olympia is about 35 km., about 30 minutes drive.
On the way to Olympia we will see villages built on the hills and around them many farms with: Olives, vineyards, oranges, watermelons, potatoes.Reaching Olympia with us you will avoid the crowds to waiting in the lines .We will assist you to buy the tickets of the archaeological site and museums .
Discover the birthplace of the Olympic Games by first visiting the archeological site .The most famous monuments such as the ancient stadium, hosted 40.000 spectators that could sit right and left without seats and watch the races , the temple of Zeus of Hera and much more .Afterwards you will visit the archaeological museum, with the statue of Hermes of Praxiteles, the statue of Peony-on victory and the exhibits of the temple of Zeus. You can also visit the Olympic Games Museum.Next stop we will visit to Klio’s Honey Farm near Olympia. You will learned a lot about their production of honey and got to try it as well. Next Stop I recommend you two farms but you must to chose one of two :
Magna Grecia you will experience the authentic flavors of the region with tour,tasting extra-virgin olive oil ,olives ,wines and traditional lunch.Olympia land winery you will experience the flavors of the region with tour ,wines ,olives and olive oil . last stop we will recommend you Agios Andreas beach .A nice place for the Summer with nice view for a drink and swim or we will recommend to visit the monastery of Panagia Kremasti.The monastery located,between the villages Lanthi and Labeti on steep rock with amazing view the mountain Erymanthos and the forest of Foloi.
